We have decided to re-open the IRC service to non-SSL (plaintext) connections, starting from today you will now be able to connect to ports 6667, 6668, and 6669 for non-SSL connections.

SSL connections are still supported on the standard port of 6697.

We have also added an additonal channel mode (+z) that only allows users of an SSL connection to join the channel, this is available to all channel operators.
